It's Been A While....

So I know that I haven't blogged in a while, and I'm going to be honest with you guys the past couple of months have been insanely shit. There's no point in beating around the bush & pretending everything had been okay when it hasn't. I'm not going to go into the whole ins & outs of things because honestly there's no point in bringing everybody else down. But I just felt the need to come on here & write.

Sometimes we go through hard times, it's absolutely horrible and it feels as though we will never get back to the place we were at. It feels like a downward spiral. One thing happens & it seems as though everything else starts happening as well & we can get ourselves into a dark place. We need to remember that it isn't going to always be like that. It's okay to fuck up, it's okay to feel sad once in a while, it's what we decide to do after that, and how we pick ourselves up. 

It's not the end of the world, even though at the time of whatever your going through might seem that way. We just need to surround ourselves with good things, good people & things that make us happy. 

I know this is probably one of the most weirdest posts anybody could ever potentially read, I just feel as though hopefully it will have relevance to some people, the way it has relevance for me.

Feeling Unwell

So it's that time of year when it starts to get a little colder & sometimes we can all feel a little under the weather. Unfortunately for me I've been suffering from a bit of a cold the past few days so I thought I'd share some tips & tricks on making yourself feel better!

1. Comfy clothes & lots of hot drinks
Now this might be an obvious one, but there's nothing better than getting all snuggled up in your cosiest pj's, slipper socks & dressing gowns! On top of this it's also really important to keep yourself hydrated when you're not feeling too good. So lots of water is especially good for you. I personally also like to drink green tea any day of the week, but especially when I'm ill, the reason for this is because it has lot's of health benefits & includes a high amount of antioxidants, which are great for you if your not feeling yourself.




2. Take a hot bath
 We all know colds can make you feel achy and a nice hot bubble bath can help to relieve those aches. Also the hot steam from the bath can actually help clear your sinuses especially if you're feeling all stuffy. I also like to take this time to do a face mask, as when I'm feeling unwell my skin shows it and gets especially dry!

3. Soup, Soup & More Soup

So I'm lucky enough that my boyfriend is a chef, and he was nice to come home on his lunch one day & make me the most amazing homemade butternut squash soup! We all know how much soup can make you feel warm & it's a really comforting food so here's the recipe Jordan made for me, I should note that even though I am not personally vegan this recipe is so everybody can enjoy it:


Butternut Squash Soup
(Serves 4)
Ingredients
1 Butternut Squash
2 Carrots
1 Onion
½ Leek
3 Cloves of Garlic
1 Sprig of Rosemary
1 Cube of Vegetable Stock
Water

Method
1. Peel & chop all of the vegetables into chunky pieces.
2. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil into a big pan.
3. fry off all of the vegetables including your rosemary for 2-3 minutes.
Add boiling water into the pan. (Just enough to cover the vegetables) & crumble over your stock cube.
4. Put onto a medium heat and leave for 40-45 minutes until the vegetables are soft.
5. Take off the heat.

6. Blend and season as to taste.

4. Above all RELAX
I know sometimes it can be hard, but at least once in our lives we have all overly worked ourselves and made ourselves feel worse in the process. So it's really important to rest our bodies. When I feel like this I like to curl up on the sofa with a nice warm blanket, with my puppy & cat & binge-watch whatever TV series I'm into at that moment in time. So turn your phones off, forget about all the emails & work you may or may not have to do & take sometime for you & make yourself feel better!

Morning Routine

Today I thought that I would share what my perfect morning routine would be. Now this doesn't always go to plan, because well sometimes life happens, but I try to do this as much as I can. I love reading and watching videos about other peoples routines, so I thought what a brilliant way to start my blog officially would be to share mine. So lets get started!

8.30am
Either way perfect or not my day typically starts at around this time. Whether that's me waking up by my alarm or getting woken up by our 19 week old puppy Enzo (he's a German Shepherd/Greyhound cross for anybody who's wondering.) The first thing I do is stretch, make my bed & have a big glass of water. I've recently started to incorporate lemon into my water, there are many benefits to doing this, such as the fact that it's detoxifying. So if there are lemons available that is always a plus!

8.45am
After all of that I will walk into my kitchen, make myself either a cup of tea or coffee depending on how I'm feeling that morning. If I'm feeling groggy and tired then it's definitely coffee, however I am more of a tea drinker, (if there's green tea then that's always my choice.) After this I will spend around 15-20 minutes just writing down my thoughts, feelings and basically anything that comes to my head. This is so that I can have a productive day without my mind going wild!! However this is usually when I get distracted by our cat Lexi as she always seems to want cuddles off me during this time & she's too adorable to resist! Whilst doing all of this my boyfriend Jordan, will most likely be sitting with his coffee playing with Enzo & watching some sort of news about football.

9.00am
This tends to be the craziest part of the morning & it's when Enzo & Lexi get fed. Enzo's still learning that he needs to be patient & he can't eat Lexi's food even though he wants to. He just seems to think any food he sees he can eat!! But after a lot of "No" and "Leave it" it's eventually done!

9.05am
I'll go & get changed into some leggings, a top & trainers as it's time to either do some sort of work out or take Enzo for a walk. That depends really on whether he's fell asleep or not, as he is one lazy puppy. If he is still awake then we go for a nice half an hour walk, if not then I will just do a few sets of squats, crunches, jumping jacks & all that kind of stuff just to get my heart pumping.

9.35am
I'll jump in the shower, at the moment I really love to use Radox Passion Fruit Splash to wash my body, it is honestly unreal & it smells so nice, even Jordan has started to steal some off me. I should note that I don't wash my hair in the mornings, I like to do that at night when I've got a little bit more time as my hair is so thick & porous it takes forever to dry but that's for another blog! I'll also then do my skincare which consists of the L'Oreal Skin Perfection range, I use the Soothing Gel Face Wash, Radiance Revealing Gentle Exfoliator, Velvety Toner & Correcting Day Moisturiser. I have pretty dry skin & ever since using this range from L'Oreal my skin has never felt better!

9.50am
Jordan usually sets off to work around this time, but for me it's time to make breakfast. Now for those who don't know me I'm a terrible cook! So I usually end up having scrambled eggs on toast with a glass of water, I recently tried to make an omelette & lets just say it did not go to plan. If Jordan is off however then we tend to have the best breakfast all round because he's a chef, but unfortunately it doesn't happen that often!

10.05am
At this time I start to get ready make-up and all, this has to be my favourite part of the morning! I blast some music on Spotify and it tends to be quite energetic, bouncy music which really gets me started for my day. I have been practising make up for years, and no matter what I love how I get better at doing it each and every day. I'll do my everyday make up routine and get changed. 

10.35am
After I've gotten ready I will do a quick 15 minute clean so that my flat isn't a complete hell hole. I always feel like I can be a lot more productive if my flat is clean & tidy. I like space & I hate it if things are cluttered all over the place.

10.50am
Lastly I will get out my Bullet Journal and plan my day. I usually pick 3 main tasks & prioritise them. I feel like doing this really gets me into the right mind set for the day, so that I can be productive & positive about what I will be able to accomplish no matter how big or small.

A Little Bit About This Blog

So by now you're probably all wondering what on earth is this girls deal? Why should I bother wasting my time reading a blog about a girl that I know absolutely nothing about. Well truthfully because we've all been in that place where we feel as though we're stuck in a rut, we feel as though there is nothing we can do to get out of that silly little place that we genuinely hate. Where we hate ourselves, the world around us & just honestly don't know what to do. Well I've recently been in that place & kind of still am but I'm slowly getting to a place where I am happy with myself. I want to be able to help others the way certain blogs have helped me get out of the little rut I was in & be able to help inspire people to improve themselves.

 Now the types of posts will vary. Like I said in my About Me page I am a pretty big fan of make up, so I find that whenever I feel like I am in a bit of a creative rut make up is always my answer to get out of it, I like to do things like this....

And somehow this always makes me feel a little bit better.


Now on the other hand I also love things like organisation & lists which is where I learnt about Bullet Journaling (you can find more information about the creator and how to bullet journal here.) The Bullet Journal gave me a way to use my love for organisation & was also another creative outlet as you can design your Bullet Journal to you.

I also love anything to do with bettering yourself, whether that is how to get motivated, how to set goals, working out all that kind of fun stuff. Self-improvement is something I believe we should all be working on.

So from today on out my blog will be sorted into a few different categories these will be,

My Life - Everything to do with me, my life & how I live day to day.
Make Up - Reviews, how to's, tutorials, routines and all that fun stuff.
Fashion - Well as the name suggests fashion!! 
Lifestyle - Personal development & Inspiration
Bullet Journal - Because everybody should have one & they're fun to use.

I look forward to talking to everybody & my first "Proper post" will be up this weekend :)
